Good evening, the homework that I am suggesting for the students is to read an entire chapter book (English or Spanish) during their break. I recommend reading 30 minutes a day each weekday. I would like a summary of what they read.

I have just realized that the report cards are still being held at the office and will be sent out (mailed) tomorrow. You should be receiving them by the end of this week.  Please keep a copy and return the other copy signed as soon as possible. I apologize for the confusion and thank you for understanding.

Good afternoon parents, just a friendly reminder that the 6th grade camp fee is due this Friday, December 4, 2015. We are all excited for this upcoming trip. It will be lots of fun!

 

Also, all of 6th grade would like to have a winter celebration on Friday, December 11, 2015 and are asking for a $5 donation.  In order for Ms.Mendoza, Ms. Bautista, and I to buy the necessary items over the weekend we are asking for the money by this Friday as well. I know it is a lot to ask, as the camp fee is also due on the same day.

 

Lastly, (please don't hate me)  class 6B, will be making gingerbread houses on that same Friday (December 11) so I am asking that the students donate any of the following items:

 

graham crackers

frosting 

any decorative candy for the houses

 

On another note, good news! We will be attending our first field trip to the Museum of Man on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 and it is FREE! (YAY!) Please make sure to sign the permission slip and return it with your child. We have 2 spaces available for chaperones and it is in a first come, first served basis. If you would like to join us please let me know.

Buenas tardes, sólo un recordatorio que la cuota del campamento de 6to grado se vence este viernes, 4 de diciembre de 2015. Estamos muy emocionados por este próximo viaje. ¡Será muy divertido!

 

Además, a todo sexto grado le gustaría tener una fiesta de invierno el viernes, 11 de diciembre del 2015 y estamos pidiendo una donación de $5. Good afternoon, as many of you already know, the fall festival is next Friday (October 30th) and 6th grade is in charge of donating candy. If you are able to make a donation please send it as soon as possible with your child to their homeroom teacher. We appreciate all donations, as the money that is raised is used for their field trips later on throughout the school year.

I have assigned a new TenMarks assignment with 10 problems to all students. It is due on Friday before class (it will close). The students will receive the points based on the percentage they get. For example, 65%=6.5 points/10. Please let me know if you have any questions! 

 

On another note, our first math assessment is approaching next week(Friday). Students will receive a study guide on the day before the test(Thursday).

We are beginning to use a website called TenMarks.com and this is where some of the homework will be assigned. Our first homework assignment is due on September 8, 2015 (when students get to class). There are 10 problems and an acceptable/passing score is considered an 8/10 (80%). The students have received their usernames and passwords and I asked them write them down in their notes section of their planners/agenda. No late homework is accepted and will receive a grade of 0.

Hay 10 problemas y un promedio aceptable es de 8/10 (80%). Los estudiantes tienen su nombre de usuario y sus contraseñas. Les pedí a cada uno de los estudiantes que las escribieran en sus agendas en la pagina donde dice “notes.” No se acepta tarea tarde y recibirá una calificación de 0.

Based on what I have been observing with tenmarks.com, I have decided to assign 20 problems to the students and they are to obtain 10 correct to receive full credit. This makes it more accesible for students to continue working rather than having to wait until I go in and assign another 10 problem assignment. For this week, if they already obtained 80% in their 10 problem assignment, they have completed their assignment. If they did not achieve 80%, they can continue working on the 20 problem assignment. If they need another TenMarks assignment, they can email me this weekend because it will be due on Tuesday. I have given every student their user name and password and I have asked them to write it in the front of their planner in the "Notes" section. Thank you.

Basado en lo que he observado con TenMarks.com, he decidido asignar tareas de 20 preguntas en vez de 10. Cuando contesten 10 correctas recibirán credito completo.  Esto lo hace más accesible para que los estudiantes puedan completar sus tareas sin tener que esperar al proximo día cuando necesitan que yo les asigne otro trabajo. Para esta semana, si ya obtuvieron 80% en tu tarea de 10 problemas, eso será contado como su tarea. Si no obtuvieron 80%, pueden intentar la tarea que contiene 20 preguntas y necesitan sacar 10 correctas para obtener credito completo. Yo les he dado los nombres de usuario y contraseñas a todos los estudiantes y deben de estar escritas al frente de sus agendas en la pagina donde dice "notes." Gracias.
