Hello EJE Academies Community,

Establishing and creating the first independent charter in East County from scratch and implementing a new educational approach was a complex and challenging task. Given the history and environment of East County, this required HEARTwork and dedication to be able to go against the current and ensure that our students and families could have a space where they felt valued.

Even today we are reminded just how important and sacred our space at EJE is. Today, we would like to take time to thank those who began this work and have dedicated their life’s work to ensure this space continues to grow.

Today, we celebrate and recognize the HEARTwork of one of our founders and an EXTRAORDINARY mujer, whom without her, much of this would not have been possible; Delia Kumabe.

This year, ChartFolk, is recognizing extraordinary people making extraordinary contributions to the national charter school movement. Delia was recognized in an article in November of 2020 and is being nominated as a ChartFolk Extraordinaire.

Let us take the time to celebrate and recognize this Extraordinary member of our community by completing the following steps:
