Welcome
Welcome to 6th grade ELA! As you know, English is ALL around us! Everything you do involves language (even you reading this paper!) so this makes this course extremely important for everyday life. I hope to provide a positive, fun and unique English experience that you will never forget!
Course Description
Throughout the course of the year, you will learn new English concepts, while reviewing what you have already been exposed to. English concepts you will learn in 6th grade are: citing evidence, quoting, figurative language, fiction and non-fiction text features as well as critical thinking. Students will develop reading strategies that they will be required to apply during independent and classroom reading. Students will use the writing process to communicate effectively and efficiently.

Hey guys!
I am sorry I wont be able to be in class with you but I am sick at home. I will remind you of my expectations:
- Be respectful to each other and our guest teacher.
- Our guest teacher IS the teacher, so make sure you do exactly what she asks you to do.
- Things will go a little different, so be open for change.
- If your name is on the list for a negative reason, we will talk about your consequences when I get back.
- If your name is on the list for a positive reason, you be acknowledge☺
Today you will be here only for ELA and SLA only for 6A. Here is your task:
- Annotate the text (highlight details).
- Answer all the questions from the boxes.
- Do the exit slip question on the back.
- If you finish early please work on your project or homework.
- Everything needs to be completed by tomorrow, no excuses, you will have a Quiz on the reading on Friday!
6A SLA
- Work on your group project the goal for today is STEP 4 & 5.
- Check that all of teh steps are completed in complete sentences.
- Tomorrow I will clarify questions if necessary
- Listen to your group leader and work together.
